Information on Senior Cycle Options 2022

The option that your child makes for Senior Cycle in Abbey Community College should be carefully considered and discussed by students and their parents/guardians. The resources below will help both students and parents/guardians make an informed choice.

Information sessions regarding Senior Cycle Options are provided for 3rd Year and Transition Year students in school to give them the opportunity to ask any questions they may have around Senior Cycle.

For students who may be absent from school, this information is also available via Microsoft Teams and here on the school website.

We ask that all presentations, information and supporting materials regarding all Senior Cycle Options are reviewed.

please note the process and dates of submission / application for the relevant option:

Transition Year

A Microsoft Form will be posted to the 3rd Year Year Group Team on Microsoft Teams on Monday, 31st January. Students who have chosen to apply for Transition Year for 2022-2023 must complete this form by Monday, 7th February at 9.00 am. This form must be completed by both students and their parents/guardians. An application to Transition Year received after the specified deadline is considered a late application.

5th Year – Leaving Certificate Subject Choice

  1. A Microsoft Form will be posted to the 3rd Year and Transition Year Year Group Teams on Microsoft Teams on Monday, 31st January. Students who have chosen to move directly to 5th year in September 2022 must complete this form by Monday, 7th February at 9.00 am.
  2. VSware Submission of Subject Preferences: Parents/Guardians must log into their VSware account and enter their child’s subject preferences for 5th year. Although, four subjects are to be chosen alongside the core three (English, Mathematics and Irish), all students, with their parents’/guardians’ agreement, will select six subject preferences with number one being their first choice etc. We will make every effort to ensure that students get four of these six subjects, however, it is particularly important that careful consideration is given to all six preferences. Subject preferences can be entered on VSware from 09.00 am on Monday, 31th January until 09.00 am on Monday, 7th February. A video demonstration of how to enter subject preferences on VSware can be found here.

5th Year – Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA)
