Hockey Trip to Dublin

On Thursday 15th March 47 girls from the Abbey headed to Dublin with Ms Connery, Mr Kissane and Ms Ní Mhaonaigh. They played 3 friendly matches in Alexandra College in Miltown, Dublin 6. The girls played with great momentum and displayed a huge potential as they won two out of three of their matches.
After playing the 3 friendly matches they went to the National Hockey Stadium in UCD to watch the Irish men's hockey team play against Chile in an Olympic Qualifier.
Ireland won 3-0 in a thrilling match. Some of the Abbey girls were lucky enough to get a few autographs! A fantastic day was had by all!

 Abbey Student Plays for Ireland

.Abbey Community College Student Zoe Power (3rd Year) is to represent the Republic of Ireland at U15 Schools International (Girls) level. This is huge honour for Zoe and for Abbey Community College, as Zoe has represented the school this year when ACC took part for the first time in the Munster minor cup. ACC were beaten in the quarter final by the eventual Munster champions Blackwater CS. on a scoreline of 3-1.
Hopefully in the next few years with the school will enjoy success in Ladies soccer with the help of players like Zoe.

 Camogie: Triumph in League Final

Congratulations to the Abbey Community College Inter team who recently won the Inter ‘A’ final against Presentation Wexford.
Both teams had been unbeaten throughout the year so a close final was anticipated. On a very wet and windy day in Enniscorthy this turned out to be the case. An exciting match played in difficult conditions ended with a So 1-nil victory for the Abbey. Best for the Abbey were Captain Ciara Brenner in attack, Áine Kinsella in midfield and the aforementioned Orla Murphy at the back. Best of luck to the girls who play in the cup final after the mid-term break

Junior Hurling: Prepartion for Lenister Final

Abbey Community College hurlers are readying themselves this week for their first ever Vocational Schools Leinster final. The Junior hurlers (under 16 ½) have qualified for the final after a fine win over Scoil Aireagail, Ballyhale in the quarter final on a scoreline of 3-12 to 0-4 and an exciting extra time semi final victory over Borris VS, 2-14 to 0-17. St. Fergal’s, Rathdowney provide the opposition in the final and they have a proud record in this competition. Captain Eoin Kenny has been inspirational thus far and will hope to bring the trophy back to Ferrybank for the very first time.  The game will be played on Thursday, 2nd February with throw in at 12.00. The venue has yet to be confirmed.
